Ice Cream Vans

IMPORTANT VAN/TRUCK
INFORMATION
Since featuring the vans on our Internet site, we have received many
inquiries about the prices, operation and features of these fabulous vans. The object of
this informational bulletin is to set out some explanations and answers to the most
commonly asked questions.
Style and operation The vans may be
new from a large selection of models offered or may be used vehicles provided by the
customer. Either of these new or used vehicles may be any commercial van of the typical
style made by most leading Automobile manufacturers. Some examples of vehicles and layout
are seen on our web page.
The converting factory normally supplies new
vehicles. Used vehicles where economically feasible are typically supplied by the buyer. A
typical example would be a van which has been involved in a rear end collision, and which
van is still functional in the front end. The van undergoes radical "surgery" at
the conversion plant. The whole rear section of the van is cut off and discarded. A new,
bigger and specially designed section is then attached to the vehicle from right behind
the drivers’ seat.
The new body is specially made for the ice cream business, it is made
completely of fiberglass, and all the soft serve machines, cold plate freezer and coolers
are installed at that time. It is constructed to conform to most European,. USA and
Canadian Standards. In fact these very same trucks have been shipped and are in operation
in over 43 different countries. (For more detailed specifications see
"Specifications" )
Vehicles from country of purchase (US, Canada etc.) are shipped to the
United Kingdom where the work is carried out. From the American continent Ro-Ro shipping
costs are about US$2000.00 for transport both ways. When the vehicle arrives back at the
country of origin, it is tested and ready to work.
Power Plant. Since the soft serve machine is powered with a unique power take-off
from the van engine, there is no need for a generator to run the soft serve machine. In
fact, the whole operation of the soft serve machine is much simplified. Provision is made
for a small generator (optional) for air conditioning (optional) and other equipment if
needed.
Prices. The prices
for the complete van vary from model to model depending on whether the vehicle is new or
used. Also, there are different options regarding the soft serve equipment and other
equipment that each buyer may require. As a rule of thumb, a new vehicle of the Ford type
with a soft serve machine ready for the road will sell for US$57,995.00.(ex factory). If
the buyer supplies a vehicle, the price is correspondingly lower. Please note that all
prices mentioned herein are examples only, are not binding, and that the prices are
subject to exchange fluctuations, freight rates, market conditions and that only an
individual quotation will bind the company. Payment terms may be arranged with a finance
company and are subject to private arrangements. In any event, the company will not be
party to a finance agreement. All owed monies are to be paid to the company prior to the
delivery of vehicle.
